COVER ILLUSTRATION. GABAA receptor α3-subunit immunoreactivity in the temporal neocortex from six patients with temporal lobe epilepsy associated with hippocampal sclerosis. The colour-coding indicates optical density of staining using a normalized scale with the strongest signal in yellow and no signal (background) in dark blue. α3-subunit immunoreactivity in three patients shows no change in the laminar distribution of this subunit whereas in two others and one without hippocampal sclerosis, staining for the α3-subunit is decreased in the superficial layers and unchanged in the deep layers.
