COVER ILLUSTRATION. “Sleeping sickness patients, 1902: all died”. Plate from Albert R Cook's Uganda Memories (1897–1940) Kampala: The Uganda Society 1945. The patients were at Mengo Hospital from where Sir Albert's brother was the first to report proven Sleeping Sickness in Uganda in 1901. This image is placed over coloured lithographs of trypanosomes from Adult forms and developmental forms of the Trypanosome found in sleeping sickness by Aldo Castellani in Royal Society Reports of the Sleeping Sickness Commission 1903; 4: 9–13. Both from ‘To sleep, to die (with apologies to Hamlet)’ by Eldryd Parry pp. 1402–1407.
